Why you should say the Rosary daily… Our Lady has 117 titles.

She selected this title at Fatima: “I am the Lady of the Rosary.”

St. Francis de Sales said the greatest method of praying is – Pray the Rosary.

St. Thomas Aquinas preached 40 straight days in Rome Italy on just the Hail Mary.

St. John Vianney, patron of priests, was seldom seen without a rosary in hand.

Fatima The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared at Fatima to three shepherd children in 1917, as “Our Lady of the Rosary”. While this is a private revelation, it has been approved by the Church as being true. While it is not binding on the faithful as dogma, Mary did ask each one of us to say the Rosary daily for peace and for the sinners on earth, who will go to hell if no one prays for them. By making it a habit to say the rosary daily, we not only are obeying the Blessed Mother’s request, we are saving souls from Hell.

What matter is it

of salt

if not to flavor food?

What matter is Light

if not to be seen

and cut darkness for others?

In this context we were meant to not simply “Be Light” or “Be Salt”, but the essence is in the sharing.  For talent, Time and treasure kept to oneself is useless and devoid of purpose.  The pleasure given to God is in the sharing.  The value of it found only when allowed to let loose upon others and have benefit to others.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?

It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

You are the light of the world.

A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.

Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:13-15

Forgiveness is key.  It is the first plea of Jesus on the Cross as he bore our sins….

What i have found is that it does not matter who was at fault and who asks for forgiveness.  The act of forgiving mends the lives of both who are involved – and the brokenness of lives are mended like a jar made up of broken pieces of clay.  That indeed, even if we do not know it, our lives heal with every true forgiving act.  It does not even  matter that you are victim or prosecutor…the role you play in the scene becomes secondary once true forgiveness is exchanged

So I challenge you…Invite you…to look into the areas of your life that need forgiveness – whether what is needed is for you to ask for forgiveness – or seek the  person who you need to forgive…

Go first and be reconciled with your brother,

and then come and offer your gift

I recall a post I did last 2007(…wow…so long ago…) comes back to me to complete my thoughts.

like a broken jar of clay
pieces fallen off
no longer whole
cracked through years
of imperfection

and yet … hope
to find the light within
mending, re-building the broken pieces of clay
the jar ..slowly re-molded

not to simply find the light
but to release it
to allow it to “spill”…overflow

not through the pieces of clay
but rather between them
through the cracks and broken pieces

like sunlight falling through the rain forest
despite the thick blanket of leaves
from trees high above
to touch the floor of life below

in my brokenness
to spill the light outside oneself
for it is in this, my sinfulness…my brokenness
that God sent His son to mend

and only by choice do i strive to
find the light
to keep the light burning

in humility i pray for the grace
to keep the light from growing dim
not only inside me
but through me

like beacon and reminder
He came to love
He came for me
…a sinner made whole

Jesh de Rox says it better – reaching across time and space to what I could not put into words….he wrote this….Remember, SANDS

Eli Eli lama sabachthani

(o god o god why have you forsaken me)

When I reflect upon these words, there is no doubt Our Lord was in deep despair.  We have no capacity to appreciate the utterly horrific experience of having the sins of the world put upon the Lord Jesus as He hung, in excruciating pain, from that cross.  The physical pain was immense.  The spiritual one must have been even greater.  In those awful moments, Jesus was expressing His feelings of abandonment….forsaken-ness…alone-ness.

During those moments God placed the weight of sin upon Him.  And indeed, this is the price of sin…to be separated from God, just as  Adam and Eve were separated from God when they sinned… and all through time, just as we did – as we do – and will continue to do so.

And as Jesus was feeling that weight of sin, He was experiencing separation from God for the first and only time in all of eternity. He felt the loneliness and abandonment that sin always produces,  except that in His case, it was not His sin – it was ours – it was mine.

And just to be absolutely clear ….Jesus did not simply carry the sin of the people who were around him at that time – those who were there to actually crucify him and judge him and throw stones at him. No!  It was far more reaching than that! Jesus carried the sins of the world….not just across all lands But across all time! Through our generations – through future generations….Can we even begin to conceive the magnitude of what Jesus carried for us on that cross?

He is the Son of  God made Man and He was to undergo every possible human condition – torture, indignity, pain, suffering, and death – not just physical death but death in all its forms…indeed even that of DESPAIR to become the ultimate offering, the sacrificial Lamb

But Not only was he The Sacrifice – Jesus is The Way…! And he shows us a blueprint, a map, on how we are to endure Every human condition …yes even that of despair or abandonment

What I am suggesting is this…Most people feel some form of abandonment during their lifetime.I know I have. We will feel this from a loved one…whether through death, divorce, or even simply being left behind. If you have ever experienced despair…or the feeling of being lost and abandoned….it can be shattering.  And it feels like you are so small not even God can see you – let alone hear you! It is easy to give in to the darkness.  I can tell you – from my own heart and shame – in the darkness, it can seem like there is no hope, no way out.  Some resort to drinking, drugs, wantonness, Godlessness, Immoral behaviour, hoping to fill the void!

But…We are given another choice. We can choose to do it the “Jesus-way”

So here He is…on what the Bible calls as the Ninth hour – in the middle of his despair, we find Jesus clinging to God with all his power, with both hands, and at the same time, shouting his inner feelings up to God. Throughout his agony we find Jesus In complete surrender and faithfulness as He continues to accept God’s Will and His purpose for us.

We are to remain faithful…Full of Faith! That would mean no matter how we are feeling at the moment…we need to know God is there. Yes he is there …even in the dungeons and darkness of our lives…He is there waiting for us to call out to Him.

It is easy to believe in God when life smiles on you and everything is beautiful and wonderful.  But sometimes, life can be incredibly hard.  And it Is difficult to hear and see God during these times.  And we start to feel alone…abandoned…maybe even despair!  But He is there.

And I believe that is what Lent tries to correct about our impressions of God. In the mysteries of Lent, God walks into the midst of the deepest, darkest experiences of human pain and suffering—
because He wants us to find Him there.

World War 2…one of the darkest times in human history…where the feeling of despair and abandonment must have been felt by so many…. We find written on a wall in a small ghetto in Poland…

“I believe in the sun when it is not shining.

I believe in the stars when I cannot see them.

And I believe in God when I cannot hear him.”

(quiet)

Lastly I wish to remind us all…. The drama does not end with Jesus crying out in depression and emotional exhaustion.

“Why have you forsaken me?”

…These are not his last words, not his final words, not the end of the story.

Through Jesus’ cry of despair we learn… God’s healing always triumphs over tragedy. Easter trumps Good Friday. And God can and will heal you from every disaster that befalls you. iN faith, God will lift you from YOUR Despair.

We are simply invited to Cling to God with both hands in complete surrender to His Will…with both hands and shout our inner feelings to God in the highest.

I See You

When you are able to pass through the veil of the physical skin and dive into the unlimited cosmos of another person’s soul…recognizing him for all that he is and all that you cannot fathom about him.

When his soul comes suddenly into focus and you can see where each of you are connected to “the source” of all that is good and love….and where each of you draws and contributes to and from it!

When two souls touch to reveal each self to the other

…I See You!

Bumangon Ka

came the call to action as cities awaken from the nightmare that was their reality…Ondoy had ravaged the Philippine metropolis and brought it under water.

But this cry displays the courage to continue on when ever last sinew screams in pain and weariness…As Rudyard Kipling reminds us…that which becomes a blueprint for Human Courage…

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;

So thus came the call …echoed across the whole land… by all who witness…

Rise Up!!!

We can meet this Challenge

nay … we will meet this Challenge

face to face

Not alone –

but together as One!

After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn’t mean leaning
and company doesn’t always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren’t contracts
and presents aren’t promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow’s ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn…
